Baby in the Barn

Sorry for the title, I had no idea what to use Kinda reminds me of the Animal Ark books...

This is actually a fairly quick job. Only a few hours, which is nothinig when compared to the three straight days it took to do my Christmas collage .

This little guy is the second foal born at Lakewood But unlike Karma, he won't be staying with us.

Toeki was requested for Stud duties a little while ago by the owner of Silver Hollow Equestrian Centre. Because they don't have a foaling barn set up yet, their chosen mare, Lady of the Docks, was shipped to Lakewood for the covering and her pregnancy. She was visited frequently by her owners as we kept a watchful eye on her and finally on Christmas evening, a tiny colt was born. The pair are happily ensconsed in Lakewood's heated barn while the new foal adjusts and Lady settles. They will be going home in a few weeks .

The baby has been named Cember (though we've taken to calling him Cemi) and will enter the competitive world under the name One Day in December.
He is a fairly light bay colt, Thoroughbred and Belgian Warmblood Cross. He takes after Toeki with the amount of confidence he already has, but he's an affectionate little guy with some nice fire.

Note: He doesn't have black legs because he's barely a few hours old in this - meant to be, anyway - and bay foals generally don't get their dark points until they shed their baby coats.
And Lady does have a bit of a ruffled mane - labour can do that we just took the tail bandage off and left her to bond.

And to Lady and Cemi's owner: I hope I did them both justice and you aren't disappointed with Cemi who doesn't look entirely bay yet. Hope the markings are okay, too
