Lakewood Farm Stories - Alec's ArrivalThe day is oddly warm and dry, considering summer's coming to a close rather faster than is welcome. The world is tranquil and quiet, save the rumbling of an unhurried car engine as the little Fiat it belongs to is driven up Chantry Lane. It's a hire car with all the company's details splashed over the royal blue paint on the sides, but it's suitable for this trip.

Alec is nineteen. Only just, though. He's spent his entire life in England with a family who come from old money and has been living in a boarding school in rural Hertfordshire for the better part of the last eight years. There's a lot of controversy about boarding schools –

Hehe, Okay so this here is why Tatty doesn't draw cows. That aside, I kinda like this

I deliberately did it a bit more cartoonised (or I'd never have gotten that cow on the canvas) and other than Peanut looking a bit big most of it fitted okay for a kind of rushed painting. She may be too big, but for once I'm moderately happy with my canine skills - though that could just be because the calf's there to throw people off...

Mossy's never exactly done cattle work before, so she's a tad out of her depth here, but she does instinctively throw her weight back against the saddle horn, and she trusts easily, so at least she's not going to freak out

She is still inexperienced and spindly, though - so Chess decided they'd go after one of the smaller, adolescent runaways and leave the big ones to the pros XD.

Sorry for no story this time - I'm trying to get quite a few things done today so I'm onto the next now

This took around 3-4 hours start to finish, pretty much in one go.
No refs (hence aforementioned cow)

Haha, I like it, but I realised it came out a bit big

'cartoonised' is my excuse for that and the vague anatomy XD

I have a thing for big heads on horses, for some reason. XD Not exactly anatomically correct, but adorable.
