Description

Event: Rider's Halloween Spotlight Event
Host: :icontackrack:
Rider: Chess Knight

I know the background is kind of out of left field. All I can say, is I didn't want anything really elaborate, since I wanted all the focus on the costume, but I wanted to keep an autumn feel, so I wanted trees. Somehow cutting out half the background with an arch in a wall seemed like a good idea. I know that some of this party is taking place at the House at Hardy Stud, so maybe there's a rose garden with these low walls somewhere around there? No? Then I pretty much invented it XD. Sorry about that, Tack.

Don't ask about the title XD.

As for the thing itself... Well, I've never seen a HARPG show for just the riders/staff before, and considering it was a costume party, I couldn't not send along one of my minions characters :D. I actually really love desigining ball gowns - I've got tons of them, but I just don't post them, so this design I've had for a while. I've drawn it a few times, but only ever traditional and it started off a different colour, so I edited it for autumn.

I was told it didn't have to be Halloween at all, so its a slightly medieval design of mine I've always had a soft spot for. I like these gowns with asymmetrical necklines and different sleeves. Plus corsets are awesome :p

I know none of this is relevant to the show, but some background: The corset is a brushed fabric, either velvet or leather (so not shiny) with boning to keep shape. Though it comes to a point, it rises on either side to allow movement through the hips for running (medieval huntress, not medieval princess in a tower XD). The skirt is a somewhat light fabric, possibly durable cotton. The darker half of the bodice is the same fabric as the skirt and the lighter half is fine silk.

The silk gathers over the shoulder as a strap and then flares loose as a sort of translucent cape down the back (there's lining where it fits on the bodice so its not see-through ;)). A brown silk ribbon is sewn to the elbow length sleeve on the other arm, and the ends hang loose. Beneath the ribbon is more of the gold silk fabric, formin a bell sleeve, slitted up to the elbow.

In this, Chess has twisted ribbons into her hair and I've given her a pair of long, dangly leaf earrings :D

That's all on that.

As for the rest...I'm not entirely certain about Chess' face (I never am XD) and her hands are terrible! But that aside...I'm quite happy with this :). The colours in the skirt came out a bit...shaky...but I'm really happy with the look of it overall and how the gold sleeves/drape came out, especially considering I invented this dress years ago and it exists in my mind quite specifically :p.

So that's about it. Finally shared a dress design with you guys. And since I don't really do human only art, I'd appreciate a comment if you fave :)

Took a few hours total - I lost count XD
