Description

The nexxxxxxt onnnnnnne :D

Ah well, you can have it a bit early today. Gotta go walk the dog :)

:iconthe-seasouls:

For the breedsheet (which has a lot of information to fit in, so will be arranged in a set of sheets), I'm illustrating various key aspects. Both because I think it helps to have a visual guide, and because I like the idea of something more interactive, and this means I get to put my mental images of various scenes to good use :) (Smile)

The illustrations will be posted over the next week or so as numbered icons, with the proper information to come.

This one may be kind of obvious. This is going to head up the page of the BreedBook on Anomalies. Fun stuff :D

So, my victims today, starting on the left:

A heavy type night blue sea based dapple grey (bay) with WaveBrindle and and a Black Phantom Tetra SoulFish (These horses are such a mouthful, but that's more fun, isn't it?)
A light type green sea based light/golden chestnut with ShellHooves and a Bottlenose Dolphin SoulFish.
A light type blue sea based grulla overo with SoulEye and a Seahorse SoulFish.

Wave brindle causes horizontal rippled lines to show up on the coat, always in the colour of the sea base. They can appear almost anywhere, though not usually below the knee/hock. This is a somewhere between uncommon and rare.
Shell hooves are a fairly common anomaly. Where normal hooves are usually grey or cream coloured, depending on pigment around the coronet, these hooves tend to be pale cream, with pink hues at the bulb of the heel and a distinct mother of pearl sheen. They catch light beautifully and are very resilient, often growing slower than normal hooves, but otherwise act much the same.
SoulEye is a bit uncommon, but not rare. More horses have this than WaveBrindle. It causes the eye to permanently reflect the colour of the horse's SoulFish. In this case, the lilac/purple of the seahorse. Fish with multiple colours can cause the iris to be a whole rainbow of colour.

A couple more fun facts:
1. A horse with ShellHooves can't be shod. The nails in the shoes are prone to shattering the edge of the hoof.
2. bioluminescent fish can cause eyes that glow in the dark on horses with SoulEye, though not always.
3. Entire herds of SeaSouls run free on Keeper's Island. They are naturally inquisitive and friendly with people, and are all domesticated to some extent, but they are encouraged to live as natural a life as possible. They band together, fight, pair up, breed and live as they choose. While the horses shown here are domestic, living in the Yards, they are part of a naturally formed smaller herd; the dapple grey stallion having collected the two mares.
3. Also shown are examples of the three SoulFish classifications. Common (the tetra), Uncommon (the dolphin) and rare (the seahorse). More on that later, too :D

As before, if you like the look of the grey or the chestnut, speak up. Though...I'm sorry to say the Grulla is staying on the Island for now.

Regarding the art...this was so much fun :D too much...

Getting them all arranged and lined took a bit of time, but I love these natural, gathering type images (kind of like the feeding image above), and to properly showcase at least a few anomalies, I figured 3 was the minimum I could go with. I had fun colouring and designing them all, too; mostly as I went along, since there was no clear plan to start with, other than which anomalies you get a preview of (can't give them all away!)

The heavy came out a little too chunky, but I really like it on the whole. And I do apologise for any anatomy quirks. I'm sure there's plenty :D

Time - a few hours.
No direct refs. Used various images on google for the seahorse and tetra, just brief eyeballing, really.

That draft stallion is simply to die for! I'll be looking out for adopts like him definitely. Same with the grullo as well as I've always been a big fan of them  The grullo's colors just go so well together. Well they all do really.

So when will you let us know more about how they behave naturally? Or are they mostly like normal horses?
