Syn's Palabra Tacita

Took a few hours today to get this done Just Kiwi's to come and all my horses have refs (Karma's is waaaay outta date, but that's another story). And Nassa's finally got a name.

It is Spanish (so if there's any native speakers around and the wording is wrong or anything, do let me know). I decided on Spanish not just because it's awesome but because Avery speaks English and Spanish fluently as she was raised with both. I liked the idea of Nassa having a name that reflected that. 'Syn's' is also Avery's family preffix, for horses in showing, or dogs etc.

To all foals: an honest and keen disposition, a mischievous streak, higher than average agility and willingness to learn and possibly a slightly protective nature.

Other: Manassa was an unexpected foal. His dam's owners kept their horses naturally, out on their land, so they had no idea she was carrying and he was born out in the field. The owners then began socialising him, but left him mainly as part of the herd. As a result, he is very in tune to other horses, relies a lot on body language and learned to run with the fastest horses for the best grazing. He was sold to Avery at the age of 3, when she was only 12 and new in England. Because she never spoke, she played on his keen perception of body language and spent a lot of time with him, to the extent that he became her closest friend and understood her in ways many people couldn't. Able to read her mood from her visual signals and pheromones, he's been known to get a little agitated if she's upset and his personal bubble responds accordingly.

Breeding Fee: A headshot, at least flat coloured, of Manassa
Tack: A snaffle bridle with no noseband, often without reins. A flat seat, close contact XC saddle and a straight cut, deep seat dressage saddle, both often used with a sheepskin seat saver.

Avery's reference information is going to stay on the first picture of the two of them, since I'm still really happy with how she came out (so much like I imagine her) and because I don't have time to make her a ref yet. So...

This took a few hours, and I'm going through this phase at the minute where I really like clearing up sketches and just using them instead of doing perfect linearts. I hope that's not annoying anyone too much, because it's a lot of fun and I quite like the more...'rustic' look. I'm also strangely happy with how Manassa looks with his arched neck and pink nose. And I'm really glad I got to draw his mane, finally XD.

Much as I love this horse to pieces, he's still such a pain/challenge to colour! Three layers for the base coats alone, and then I have to erase carefully around the patterns on each layer so the right colours show through. If anyone has a better idea for drawing him, I'm all ears As for the markings - there was no official design for his right side, so I made it up as I went along and tried to keep it with the same feel and balance as his left side - hopefully that worked.
